ABOUT Daisy

Daisy was born on December 23, 2009, weighing 1 pound 4 ounces. She was 24 weeks gestational (meaning I gave birth to her when I was 24 weeks pregnant). I had a subchorionic hemorrhage (fairly common) and was told it would more than likely go away. However, it eventually turned into a placental abruption and after 13 weeks of bed-rest, my body gave in. Daisy was born and fought for 20 days. SHE WAS BEAUTIFUL! I cannot believe that at 24 weeks gestational she had fingernails, eyelashes, eyebrows, hair. She kicked and stretched in her incubator. She was amazingly perfect. Life outside the womb is really tough, even though NICU units do a fantastic job recreating a womb-like incubator. On January 12, 2010, she went home to be with her Maker.

Because of her life, I have gained much understanding about life~myself, about others and how to treat them, and about Jesus. I understand sorrow, loss, pain, grief. I have gained compassion for the disabled, house-bound, NICU families, long-term ill, long-term hospitalized...

I have a new understanding on what it means to be a Christian. Trials DO make us stronger, if we allow them to. Everything happens for a purpose--God's Purpose.

Heaven has never been so real. I am looking forward to someday being reunited with Daisy. For now, she has perfect surroundings. I am sure she is playing in Heaven and is able to function perfectly there.
